Forbidden Ch. 03

Chloe's hand rested gently on Logan's torso. Lying next to him, so close soothed some of the hurt she felt. In her dream, she saw Cassie peaceful and joyful. Cassandra's laughter filled her eardrums. But Chloe was wet. Like bleeding wet. She tried to move away from Logan, but his hands were wrapped around her protectively. She opened her eyes to see him staring at her. Now that she was awake, it made sense why she was wet. She was on her freaken period! She felt so ashamed she wanted to hide.

"What? What's wrong?" he asked, sensing her uneasiness.

She blushed, her skin scarlet red. "I'm on my period. I had no idea it'd come today. I-I'm really sorry," she apologized. He looked at her, "You don't need to apologise." His tone was concerned and considerate.

"I need to leave. Cassie needs me."

"Chloe, I'll take you home. I'm not letting you leave until you've had something to eat."

"No, don't. Kristen might see you and it'll cause trouble between you two. I'll be fine," she got up. Her menstrual bleeding was so embarrassing, Logan wasn't supposed to see this. He felt real sorry for her. Was she experiencing pain? How long would the bleeding last? And was he the one who caused by hurting her last night? He felt bad. "Here, come on," he lifted her.

"What'd you doing?"

"I'm helping you. You look like you're in pain."

She was in pain, bruised. His thoughtfulness shocked her however. He could be one person this minute and somebody different the next. He ran her a bath. They didn't say anything to each other. The warm water soothed her sore muscles. He caressed every part of her body. She relaxed under his care. "What's on your mind?" he asked while he wrapped a warm cotton towel around her body. She didn't respond, she was totally absorbed in silence. She liked the intimacy between the two of them. Her silence let him know this wasn't time for conversation. He was just content with having her beside him. That's all that mattered to him.

After eating, Chloe felt better. Logan had asked one of his assistants to get her menstrual pads. She was so relieved that matter was sorted. "Sure you'll be okay?" he asked her. He had to make sure she was okay. Seeing her bleed scared the fuck out of him. He couldn't stop feeling guilty. "I'll be fine Logan. Thanks," she walked towards the elevator door. "Logan, whatever happened between us. I'm willing to put it behind us. Promise me it'll stop." She was tired of fighting, of being taken against her will. All she wanted was things to go back to normal. Logan nodded. He knew he'd never let her go, not now, not ever.

"God, you're so sleepy. Hectic night?"

"I'm super tired."

"Too bad, I thought we'd go out tonight."

"Who'd baby sit Cassie?"

"Damn it. That's another problem. We really should have a baby sitter."

"I don't trust anyone around my baby Kris."

"There we go again. You need to loosen up C. For real." They both giggled, Kristen was always telling Chloe to loosen up. Eventually it was their inside joke. Kristen's phone rang, a smile lit up her face. Chloe could tell it was Logan who's calling. She felt weird; knowing she was with him the entire night. Guilty because she knew she was falling for him. Not him, she told herself, just a part of him that was might care about her. Kristen looked excited, maybe things were working out between her and Logan finally.

Chloe was lost in thought, she didn't want to hear Kristen talk about Logan. It'd break her heart. "Logan's coming. He's bringing dinner."

"Oh," Chloe panicked. "I'm actually not hungry Kris. I should get to bed and rest."

"Nonsense. You're hardly around dinner time. Come on C, you know we hardly eat together."

"Okay, alright. Gosh, you just never give up do you?"

"Nop," Kristen giggled.

Logan arrived at Kristen's apartment in no time. They had Chinese food, Kristen's favourite. Logan couldn't stop staring at Chloe, it made her feel uncomfortable. Luckily Cassie fell asleep real quick, a great excuse for her to give Kris and Logan some space. Chloe took Cassandra to bed and said her goodnight. Relief flooded her body when she was finally alone. She was so sure things would get back to normal. But they seemed awkward and she couldn't stop thinking about him. Chloe decided to go downstairs to see if Logan was gone. "He's gone."

"Who?"

"Logan. I know you came downstairs to see if he's gone."

"No. I-I-I'm just thirsty. Need a glass of water."

"The way he looks at you Chloe. He's never looked at me like that."

"I didn't notice," Chloe was getting nervous.

"Fuck you! I know you've been sleeping with him!"

"Kristen no. I'd never.."

"Shut the fuck up. Are you gonna stand there and lie to me? I could smell his scent all over you this morning. I'd recognise it any day Chloe, I'm not dumb. I slept with him too, you know."

"I didn't want to, I swear!" Chloe's eyes were getting teary. "I didn't want to hurt you. He forced himself on me. I didn't want to ruin—"

Kristen slapped her. It was unexpected and savage. Chloe lost balance for a few seconds.

"You such a whore! AN UNGRATEFUL WHORE! After all the shit I've done for you. You go behind my back and sleep with my man!"

Chloe couldn't say anything. Her throat was dry and all she could think about was getting out of Kristen's sight for her own safety. "Get your shit and get the fuck out of my place."

"Kris, please. I didn't mean to. I swear."

"You went behind my back Chloe, left your daughter here with me and spent the night with my boyfriend. How sick and cruel are you?"

Those words broke Chloe's heart. Maybe Kristen was right. Maybe she was really a horrible person.

Chloe packed her belongings in a large suitcase. Waking Cassie up, her daughter was confused when Chloe told her they had to leave. Cassandra could sense the tension between her mom and Kristen. Chloe handed her keys to Kristen. She had nowhere to go. She could call Logan, but he had caused this and right now she was really mad at him; at herself too.

They found a motel to stay in for the night and Cassandra quickly fell asleep. Chloe couldn't sleep however; she was haunted by what Kristen had said. Was she really a whore? Cruel? She cried. All this was just too much to bear.

Helen wasn't expecting to see her son. Logan showing up out the blue meant he wanted to talk about something. Lily, his younger sister wasn't around, so he could freely talk to his mother about anything. Lily was attending one of her Counselling classes and Helen was just busy in her garden.

"What kind of trouble have you gotten yourself into you this time young man?" she hugged her son. Sure she was happy to see him, but she wasn't excited about his state of affairs.

"That's warm of you mother. I've come to see how you're doing."

"And what else are you here for?"

"Chloe's disappeared. I can't seem to find her."

"Chloe? You mean your ex girlfriend's roommate, the one you banged?"

"Really funny mom. But yeah, that Chloe."

"Have you tried calling her?"

"Her phone's off!" he lost his cool. His mother wasn't taking this as serious as he needed her too. He knew she was able to help. This time around, Helen didn't want to get her hands dirty. Particularly because Logan had caused the young woman a great amount of pain.

"I'd disappear into thin air if I was her too. Poor girl's been through a lot. She can't really guarantee her own safety and her daughter's."

"What'd you mean?"

"Considering how things went on between you two, I wouldn't want to see you either."

"I know I'm not an angel but I do care about her."

"Why didn't you tell her? It would've been a lot easier than rape. You know you're the reason their friendship is broken, right?"

"When are you ever gonna stop rubbing it in?"

"Till you acknowledge that you've messed up a young woman's life. Who would've been safe it wasn't for your selfishness."

"Fine, I get it. I used her, I hurt her. I'm a selfish jerk. Can she just come back so I could fix it all?! Fuck!"

"You can't fix it. You're like your father. Sadistic things excite Hawk men. Let her go. She's better off without you," Helen said. She was really concerned about the young lady, and she knew Logan was no good for her. "Even if you find her. You just won't be able to control yourself."

"Right! Thanks for listening mom. I really appreciate it," he said sarcastically.

"You're welcome," she sensed his sarcasm and returned it with a smile. "Don't you ever use that tone on me again!" she warned him.

"Fine," he said. "You didn't tell Lily about Chloe, did you?"

"No. I'm not happy about your behaviour, but I'd never hang your dirty linen."
