A Moment

Give me a moment,
just this once,
let me live in it,
and re-live, and re-live.

A moment where I can fly,
where I rise above fear,
where all that matters to me,
is so close and real.

A moment for children,
that just like to laugh,
for happy sweet couples,
and grandpa's and mothers dying in their beds.

A moment when the sun shines in the night,
where rain falls upwards,
where death is no more than a door,
and every word is sung like a spell.

A moment for people who don't hate but help,
for nuns and teachers, a prince and a bum,
for that girl that gives me a smile at the store,
which always makes my day worth counting.

Give me this moment, the moment of dreams,
where I see my future but don't really care,
where I do naught but go on and dance on my way,
and invite everybody that I should mee.

Moments come and moments go,
but this one will linger through terror and darkness,
for I say so and because I want it, I do,
no killer, no weapon and no goverment law,
just my word and thought and will.

I can see it, the moment,
the air is clear, sounds of silence, people embracing,
one more step and we'll all be there,
but as we're about to enter a better world,
I see the horrible truth....... the moment has just passed by.

All we do now, is look back and mourn,
and I can't help but ask myself, 'Why?',
another moment might come,
give it to me and let me re-live it, and live it, and live,
for I say so and because I want it, I do.
