I first saw her while walking security,
At the front door of Walmart,
In the east end of Ottawa,
A breath of fresh air.
"Hello handsome," Sawsan said,
Flashing me that enchanting smile,
Rapturous long dark hair, bronze skin, lovely brown eyes,
Curves that definitely won't quit...
Lebanese Muslim woman,
Flashing that fearless smile,
Looking me up and down,
The Middle-Eastern Beauty.
"I'm Suleiman, originally from Haiti," I said,
While smiling nervously at this beauty,
Trying to be calm, cool and collected,
While my heart thundered in my chest.
"Welcome to Islam," Sawsan said,
After I told her of my Journey,
From Haitian-born Roman Catholic,
To new Muslim living in Canada.
That's how it began,
A friendship which surprised us both,
In time it became more,
And our very lives,
Have never been the same.
