After a good night's sleep

As I open my eyes
and take a good look around
I see the monsters are gone
and the horror with them.
At the horizon,
dawn is breaking
a new day is here
and last night's just a memory.
Light and warmth
are coming back
and the world looks green again.
Though I've lost everything
I'm glad to be alive
eager to start a new adventure
and write it down
on a clean slate.
