Sugary sweet
Like an overripe fruit
Much too soft
Make me gag
Swallowing with reluctance
Those words
I don’t know their intention
Hold me down
Hard to read
Suffocating me with their sweet juice
When what I want is water
Wash away pain
Cure the taste on my tongue with neutrality
Refreshing and honest
Rinse me clean
