Pool

Playing hooky from school, I remember when
I devoted my life to pool at age ten.
Shooting pool and hustling the neighborhood men,
Not cool, now, I’m the fool for playing pool, then.

I should have studied harder to finish school
And not hung around with my friends shooting pool.
Education is the necessary tool
That’s why I stopped playing pool and finished school.

Now, I have a good job and a great new life
With two great children and a beautiful wife.
When I retreat from life’s pressures, stress, and strife,
I go the country club with friends and wife.

She plays bridge while I reminisce with the boys.
It’s part of men’s heritage to play with toys.
Sipping scotch and smoking cigars with Willard,
Although I win, we enjoy playing billiards.
